The Rose

What could be more touching than this scenario; I come home from work and Charlie and Alexander were hiding in the stairway behind the elevator. They jumped up to scare me, they were giggeling and dragged me inside. Alexander wanted to give me something so I had to "choose arm". After doing left, right a couple of times he gave me the most beautiful rose made out of paper and made by himself in school; - "Happy Mothers Day", he says accompanied with the warmest hug on earth. The rose had a pink piece of paper saying "I love you so much, Mom".

Caught in the moment nothing else really mattered, but it made me do one thing that was a bit unexpected. I went to my photo album, and selected some family pictures including my Dad and my Mom. The next morning I put them up on the wall in my office and it felt really good. This will remind me every day of what counts and what is important! The really nice side effect was that everybody came by ta have a chat around families, which we really do not have time to.... but as my ex collegue Daniel very rightly pointed out..When you are taking your last breath, you are not very likely to say "I wish I had spent more time at work".
